Grown in Harmony: The Oromo Heritage
Hambella Wamena is a prestigious district in the Guji Zone of Oromia, a region named after the Oromo people who have cultivated coffee for generations. This single origin espresso represents a rich tradition of organic farming; the local landrace varieties thrive in harmony with the environment, benefiting from natural fertilization and forest shade. This is "uncertified organic" coffee at its finest—pure, wild, and deeply connected to the land.
Espresso Flavour Profile: Strawberries & Cream, Plum & Cocoa
Named after prominent local farmer Geda Bali, this natural lot is a multi-layered sensory experience. Meticulously roasted to a Medium level, it captures the "jammy" sweetness of the Guji highlands:
- Palate: Bursting with the freshness of Ripe Berries and Juicy Plum.
- Signature Notes: Delightful hints of Strawberries and Cream.
- Finish: Rounded out by subtle, comforting notes of Hazelnut and Cocoa.
- Character: A vibrant, fruit-forward espresso with a heavy, syrupy body that makes it an exceptional choice for both black and milk-based coffees.
The Producer: Three Generations of Excellence
Yednekachew Seleshi is a third-generation producer carrying on a 52-year family legacy. He collaborates with 240 local smallholder farmers to produce this exceptional natural lot.
- Extreme Altitude: Grown at 2050–2100 MASL, among the highest elevations in the world, which slows cherry maturation and intensifies sugar development.
- Natural Processing: The cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness and dried on African raised beds for 12 to 15 days at the Buliye washing station.
- Community Support: Yednekachew provides organic compost to farmers and biannual training on quality control, while also sponsoring local schools and sports teams.

Precision Brew Guide: Dialling in the Fruit Bomb
To capture the strawberries and cream elegance of this specialty coffee, we recommend starting with these espresso parameters. As always, feel free to tweak the recipe to your specific machine and taste:
- Dose: 22.5g
- Yield: 40ml
- Time: 27–31 seconds
Roaster’s Tip: Natural Ethiopians are packed with fruit sugars. If the berry notes feel too "sharp," try tightening your grind to hit the 31-second mark. This will pull out more of the hazelnut and cocoa base, creating a perfectly balanced "strawberry chocolate" cup.
